Nikolai-Festspiele Berlin
One of the largest steampunk and cosplay fairs in Germany is set to return the city of Berlin this summer, as Berlinotopia takes over Nikolaikirchplatz once more! Every year in August, Berlin celebrates itself at the Nikolai-Festspiele by hosting an elaborate fair, complete with a historical market, open-air theatre, street performers and more!
Berlin celebrates Berlin with Nikolai-Festspiele
This unique fair in Berlin transports visitors to a magical and fictional world of Berlin in the 1900s, set in the historic Nikolai quarter.
The 7th annual Nikolai-Festspiele will offer visitors plenty of illusions, fantasies and stories throughout the weekend. Attendees are encouraged to dress up in 1990s attire or 1920s costumes. But those who favour a more modern approach will be pleased to see steampunk cosplayers wearing their best futuristic-inspired outfits, as well as gorgeous drag queens and even Game of Thrones-themed costumes.
Berlin’s unique fair of illusions, tricks and costumes
The fair centres around the Nikolaiviertel, a historical market complete with numerous stands offering traditional arts and crafts, unusual jewellery and period costumes. Visitors will also be able to snack on street food and drinks inspired by the early 1900s, ensuring no one goes hungry.
Artists and street performers in authentic outfits will also perform vaudeville, open-air theatre shows and live music acts inspired by the fictional world to keep guests entertained throughout the weekend.
