Living up to its title of the UNESCO City of Literature, Heidelberg has, since 1994, been boasting about its tradition-rich literature festival - Heidelberg Literature Days. One of the highlights of cultural life in Heidelberg, this festival brings together a variety of literary approaches and formats for an audience of all ages.

What to expect at Heidelberg Literature Days 2020

Traditionally, this festival takes place every year in the heart of Heidelberg’s Altstadt (Old Town). This year, however – due to coronavirus restrictions – the events have been moved online. So, as long as you have a device and a working internet connection, you’ll be able to join renowned German language and international authors to discuss literature via live chats.

In addition to these discussions, there will also be workshops, literary City Tours, live audio plays, slam poetry and the public Lesewohnzimmer (reading living room) from StadtLesen. Festival guests will get numerous opportunities to exchange their literary experiences with one another.

Attending Heidelberg Literature Days online

Whether literature is your thing, or you’re simply curious and looking for some reading-rich fun, Heidelberg Literature Days is the perfect event. And this year, you can even enjoy it from the safety and comfort of your home (no hassle with public transportation or parking!). Head over to the city’s official website for more details.
