Sommerblut Festival
Cologne is known for its cultural diversity and abundance of social identities - an aspect of the city's identity which is emphasised during the annual Sommerblut Festival.
Known as the “Festival of Multipolar Culture”, Sommerblut is an inclusive cultural festival that strives to connect different social and political points of view and identities, regardless of physical or mental disability, ethnic and social origin, age, sexual identity, gender or religion.
What can you expect at Sommerblut 2024?
Sommerblut has come a long way from its first edition in 2002 with 13 events and 2.000 visitors. By 2008, it had already reached a total of a whopping 20.000 visitors and 120 events.
Sommerblut 2024
Sommerblut Festival invites you to change your perspective, offering a programme of events in the fields of theatre, dance, music, performances and exhibitions, including a variety of in-house productions. In keeping with the general theme of inclusion, some events are especially suited for people with auditory impairments, walking difficulties and visual impairments.
The performances aim to be open, alternative, international, diverse, and multifaceted. The following are some of the performances taking place this year:
