Admission-free Sundays start next weekend at Berlin museums

How do you fancy visiting one of Berlin’s best-loved museums for free? Well, now’s your chance, because from next weekend, the long-awaited Museum Sundays scheme finally kicks off, offering free admission to multiple museums on the first Sunday of every month.

Visit 60 museums in Berlin - for free!

After being announced nearly two years ago but then postponed due to the pandemic, the admission-free Museum Sundays scheme will finally kick off on July 4 in Berlin, with five further dates to follow in 2021.

Altogether, around 60 institutions in the capital are involved, from famous favourites like the Altes Museum, the Gemäldegalerie and the Pergamon Museum, as well as smaller museums like the Werkbundarchiv, the Decorative Arts Museum, and the Knoblauchhaus Museum.

Some museums will require advance booking

Ongoing restrictions due to coronavirus in Germany mean that, initially at least, some museums will require you to book a time slot in advance in order to visit. Visitors must also wear an FFP2 mask and ensure that social distancing requirements are adhered to at all times.

You can find a full list of participating museums, and book your free time slot, via the Museum Sundays website (in English).
