With two unique campuses in Oberursel and Wiesbaden, rigorous academics, a variety of performing and visual arts offerings, and a strong athletics program, Frankfurt International School truly provides students and their families with a world of opportunities.

Preparing students to be successful in an ever-changing world

Frankfurt International School is an institution held to the highest standards, where many students - who come from over 60 nations around the world - will leave and continue onward to other top-ranked schools. FIS is proud of its reputation and long history as a high-achieving IB school, yet its faculty also remains focused on preparing students to be successful in an ever-changing world.

Whether it’s learning to play a stringed instrument in Primary School, exploring new worlds through Virtual Reality in Grade 4, or starring as a lead in an Upper School drama performance, FIS offers a challenging and dynamic education programme to fit the individual needs of each student.

FIS celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2021

2021 marked a special year for FIS as the school celebrated its 60th anniversary. Dr Paul M. Fochtman, Head of School, says, “After six decades, FIS looks younger and more fit than it did in 1961. The rapid increase in knowledge over this period has been exponential, particularly in the areas of science and technology.

“The pace of this evolution of intellect is only growing faster and we know that students who begin today at FIS in First Steps will be graduating into a world we can barely imagine. It requires our school to “stay young and nimble” as we grow older, because our FIS vision is to set the pace in international education, not follow it.”

2022 marks 30 years of Wiesbaden Campus

In 2022, the school is celebrating another milestone, as it marks 30 years of the Wiesbaden Campus (FISW).

FISW offers students age three (First Steps) through Grade 8 with opportunities that lead to success. The newly-renovated and extended world-class facilities, located just 40 kilometres from central Frankfurt, allow for a well-balanced mix of academic subjects, sports, outdoor learning, after-school activities, private music instruction, multi-language learning, international field trips, and a focus on STEM learning.

To meet the needs of children who have lived and learned in many different cultures and in different languages, FISW’s international educators take an innovative approach to teaching that is both supportive and personally challenging for all students. From the nearby forests and horse stables to the new state-of-the-art ACE (Arts, Creativity, and Education) Centre, students in Primary School and Elementary School have the best of both worlds - access to the latest technology and natural surroundings.

“As a school designed to thrive, FISW has a flourishing community which values the uniqueness of each student, staff and family member,” explains Dr Jeremy Majeski, principal of the Wiesbaden Campus. “We are a school capable of truly knowing every student and accompanying them on their educational journey. Our curriculum, rooted in the foundations of the International Baccalaureate Programme’s Primary Years Programme (PYP), nurtures students to become inquisitive critical thinkers, who see value in our diversity and are motivated to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.”
