About this role

The Mercedes-Benz Group AG is one of the most successful automotive companies in the world. Together with Mercedes-Benz AG, the vehicle manufacturer is one of the largest providers of premium and luxury cars and vans. In powertrain development at Mercedes-Benz, we are leaders in shaping the mobility of tomorrow. A central focus is on drivability, which significantly influences the subjective driving experience – from spontaneous throttle response and smooth gear changes to a harmonious overall vehicle behavior. Simultaneously, through innovative operating strategies, we optimize the interaction of all powertrain components to ensure maximum efficiency, minimal emissions, and superior performance under all conditions. Our work is always close to the product, so our developments directly flow into the vehicles that will inspire our customers worldwide. Within these areas of responsibility, you will gain deep insights into the diverse activities of an engineer in powertrain development.

These challenges await you:

  • Development and implementation of test procedures in powertrain simulation environments using Python, for the validation of drivability and operating strategy scopes
  • Conception, development, and programming of innovative evaluation tools and toolchains in MATLAB and Python, for the automated analysis and assessment of drivability and operating strategy
  • Definition and coordination of test and evaluation methodologies in comparison with real test resources such as powertrain test benches or prototype vehicles
  • In-depth analysis and interpretation of test bench, simulation, and vehicle measurement data using MATLAB, Canape, MDA, etc., to identify optimization potentials
  • Support in the creation of technical documentation and project reports
  • Active participation in day-to-day business
