The “Markets Planning & Trading - Western Europe” Team is part of the Markets Planning & Trading department, a cross-functional unit that connects all commercial functions to execute global strategies on a country level and drive the commercial success of Zalando across European Markets. We are responsible for planning and monitoring the sales of Zalando and analysing the impact of drivers on business performance. As Commercial Planning Manager, you will ensure that we plan, steer, and manage the business performance of the market in the healthiest and most sustainable way. We are looking for a Commercial Planner for our growth markets in the ‘Western Europe’ cluster, this person will look after the commercial planning for the following 3 markets: UK, Ireland and Luxembourg.
You will be responsible for the sales planning and forecasting of your respective markets, for both topline and other transactional metrics.
You will define the short and long-term commercial targets in the markets in close collaboration with several commercial functions
You will work closely with the local Head of Markets Planning & Trading, the market General Manager and various commercial functions such as eCommerce, pricing, finance, and supply to device the local commercial strategy and performance
You will be supporting them with your analytical skills on commercial and strategic topics, as the main business planning and forecasting expert/analyst for your market.
You will monitor the business performance in your market, point out and explain deviations, and derive commercial recommendations to close performance gaps. Your analysis and recommendations will be shared with the senior markets leadership team
You will execute cross-functional analysis to support trade-off decisions and projects on overarching topics with a direct impact on several parts of the local P&L
You will participate in and drive local strategic projects with high commercial impact, and you will work closely with the local market leadership team.
You will model demand forecast overlooking local commercial activities and different investment areas (e.g. Pricing, Marketing, value proposition such as Payment, Logistics)
You will present performance results during Senior Stakeholder meetings and be able to answer and contextualize questions on past numbers and future expectations
You have a masters degree, preferably in an analytical direction such as economics, finance, engineering, statistics, management or comparable qualification.
You are very analytical, detail oriented and love working with numbers and metrics and use these skills to create storylines behind performance and proactively suggest solutions or new strategies
You are business-fluent in English
You have gained 4+ years of work experience in a consumer-oriented commercial, financial or highly analytical role.
You are a strategic commercial thinker with impressive analytical skills and a critical mindset. You have strong technical skills in Excel.
Your knowledge of SQL or other programming languages is a plus
You have a good understanding of the main P&L lines in an e-commerce - retailing environment.
You have great communication skills and can drive projects with different teams across the organisation.
You have affinity with fashion and Western Europe consumer industries - nice to have.
