Finance Controller / Finance Manager (m/f/d)

Overview A Japanese manufacturer specializing in gas detection systems for the semiconductor and marine industries is seeking a Finance Controller / Finance Manager(m/f/d) to lead the in-house development of its finance function by 2027. The German office currently has around 15 employees and offers a dynamic, multicultural working environment, with further expansion planned in the coming years. Responsibilities - Accounting: Manage monthly closing activities, general ledger accounting, accounts receivable and payable, bank reconciliations, accruals and provisions, and fixed asset management. - Closing & Tax: Prepare financial statements in accordance with German GAAP (HGB) and coordinate with external tax advisors for annual financial statements and tax filings. - Cash Management: Monitor cash flow, prepare cash flow forecasts, manage incoming and outgoing payments, and analyze working capital. - Controlling: Conduct monthly budget-versus-actual analyses, monitor departmental expenses, and prepare KPI and management reports. - Planning: Support annual budgeting, mid-term business planning, and rolling forecasts. - Team Development: Develop and coach team members, establish and improve accounting procedures, and strengthen internal controls. Requirements - Proven hands-on experience in both Accounting and Controlling within a German company. - Business-fluent English and German skills. - Ability to independently perform monthly and annual closings in accordance with HGB (German GAAP). - Experience in cash flow management, budgeting, and budget-versus-actual analysis. - Ability to work hands-on in a small organization while driving process improvements and supporting team development.
