Backend Engineer - ZEOS (all genders)

Role: Backend Software Engineer in the B2B Platform team at Zalando. You will join an agile, cross‑functional team building high‑performance, API‑first microservices that power partner‑facing products, handling the full lifecycle from code to monitoring. Responsibilities: - Develop robust services: build and maintain scalable microservices using Java and Spring Boot. - Design clean APIs: contribute to RESTful service design for customer portals and internal tools. - Own your code: participate in design, testing, and deployment using Gradle and CI/CD pipelines. - Ensure operational health: deploy and operate services on AWS and Kubernetes, monitor and troubleshoot in production. - Collaborate and grow: engage in code reviews, team ceremonies, and provide/receive feedback to maintain high code quality. - Think end‑to‑end: work closely with frontend engineers and consider full‑stack context to deliver seamless partner experiences. Qualifications: - Solid Java foundation with professional experience in Java development and Spring Boot. - Knowledge of microservice architectures, REST APIs, and data handling (e.g., Jackson). - Proven track record delivering stable features in an agile environment and taking ownership from discovery to delivery. - Experience with build tools like Gradle and a strong interest in automated testing and CI/CD workflows. - Comfortable working with AWS and Kubernetes and embracing a “You Write It, You Run It” mindset. - Strong English communication skills and a collaborative approach in a diverse, international team.
