Go Backend Developer (m/f/d)

Millions of customers. One SIXT experience. Based in Pullach near Munich, you'll design and own the customer-facing distributed systems that power that experience. Work with Go, AWS, and Kafka in an agile, international team where AI-assisted engineering and high-quality software are the standard. Collaborate with product managers and business stakeholders to turn ambiguous problems into reliable, scalable solutions that serve customers across our global platform.

YOUR ROLE AT SIXT

• You design, build, and own customer-facing distributed systems, from design through deployment and operation
• You build event-driven systems and define clear service contracts
• You turn ambiguous problems into clear tasks with defined success criteria, and flag risks early
• You use AI-assisted tooling to move faster, and put guardrails in place so that what you deliver is high quality and maintainable
• You work in a diverse, international team that uses agile methods and keeps improving how it collaborates
• You partner with engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders, and challenge unclear requirements
• You share the on-call rotation and respond to escalations to keep our critical services running

YOUR SKILLS MATTER

Go & Cloud Infrastructure

You have professional experience with Go, building distributed, cloud-native applications, and hands-on experience with AWS, Kafka, and gRPC

System Design

You have experience designing event-driven systems and microservices, and solving scalability and reliability challenges

API Development

You have experience building APIs used by many internal or external partners

Agentic Engineering

You have hands-on experience with agentic engineering: you write specs that agents can execute, build your own agent workflows, and turn recurring review feedback into automated checks and guardrails

Engineering Trade-offs

You have a solid grasp of trade-offs in reliability, performance, and maintainability, and the ability to explain them in business terms

Collaboration & Growth

You have a habit of continuous learning and a willingness to mentor teammates and onboard new joiners, combined with strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
