Becoming part of Mercedes-Benz means finding the area of responsibility in which you can develop your individual talents. It means giving your best in a global automotive company that aims to build the most desirable cars in the world. You will be supported by visionary colleagues who share your pioneering spirit. Together for excellence.

Data is our DNA, technology is our passion. As data virtuosos in the Mercedes-Benz Group, we set data and technology in motion by orchestrating product data to create the ultimate digital and virtual luxury experience around Mercedes-Benz vehicles. With a pioneering spirit, expertise, and passion, we turn data into data experiences and revolutionize the world of data in the vehicle - whether with the digital twin, in product data management or in virtual engineering.

Become part of our team:

Our team has many years of know-how in the areas of mobile apps, 3D visualization, computer vision, augmented and virtual reality. With creativity, our specialists design sophisticated mixed reality solutions from prototype to market-ready product. In the In-Car XR division, innovative projects for the use of mixed reality in vehicles are developed and tested. Here, for example, we deal with questions such as how interactions for use while driving should be designed and how motion sickness can be mitigated.

Your tasks in detail:

· Conduct a comprehensive scientific literature review on the state-of-the-art Augmented Reality (AR) applications in vehicles

· Design, conceptualize, and develop a prototype AR application based on the literature review

· Evaluate the prototype using scientific methods, such as surveys or user studies

· Document your procedures and findings in your master’s thesis and contribute to a scientific publication

Potential topics may encompass:

· Improve precision and reduce error rate of In-Car AR/VR interactions through deep learning

· Investigate design and interaction requirements for In-Car AR/VR mobile work environments

· Investigate In-Car AR/VR text input for dynamic environments

· Investigate synchronization between virtual and real environments for In-Car VR

· Investigate motion sickness mitigation approaches for InCar AR/VR in moving vehicles

Please indicate in your cover letter which topics interest you, whether from the provided list or any new ideas you may have. The final topic selection will be made in consultation with the university, you, and us.

Qualifications:

  • - Ongoing Master's degree in computer science, media informatics, human-machine interaction or a comparable field of study
  • - Good knowledge of Unity and C#
  • - Basic experience with immersive technologies (AR / VR / MR) and possibly head-mounted displays
  • - Ideally, you already have experience in scientific work and in conducting scientific studies

Your personality is characterized by:

  • You are enthusiastic about Augmented- or Virtual Reality
  • You have strong analytical and conceptual skills
  • You are highly motivated and interested in familiarizing yourself with new technologies and topics
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Proficiency in written and spoken German or English
  • Having a class B driver's license is an advantage

Would you like to work on large innovative projects and move the digital vehicle world with us? Then we look forward to receiving your application!
