Product Engineer IPOS (d/m/f/x)
About this role
Mercedes-Benz Insurance is one of the fastest-growing digital product areas in Mercedes-Benz. Mercedes-Benz Insurance Services GmbH is the insurance arm of Mercedes-Benz Group AG, covering automotive insurance globally, corporate insurance solutions, and employee benefits. We at Mercedes-Benz Insurance Services are currently working on the comprehensive digital transformation of our retail business and new digital business models with our Insurance Platform of Services (IPOS). Our goal is to achieve a best-in-class customer/user experience across all touchpoints by delivering tailored insurance solutions at the right time.
IPOS (Insurance Platform of Services) is designed to address the complexities of insurance products and the inconveniences in the customer journey. It aims to overcome the challenges of limited integration into the Mercedes-Benz ecosystem, as well as issues of heterogeneous architecture, system complexity, and scalability. We operate in 9 markets with 15 products, from Japan to the US - and we're still growing.
From chaos to clarity:
You will master these tasks:
- Own the product delivery flow - we need someone who finishes things - someone who takes a theme - like "our deployment coordination needs fixing" - and drives it to completion - not by being an expert in everything, but by knowing enough to ask the right questions, identify the right people, and facilitate the action to move the topic over the line
- This includes understanding the business process and how we generate value
What this actually looks like:
- You will own development and operational topics end-to-end: initiating, facilitating, monitoring progress, and presenting solutions
- Right now, that means improving our CI/CD and testing flow (automated and manual)
- Tomorrow it could be streamlining release cycles or running better refinements
- You need enough technical and product literacy to ask sharp questions, bring the right people together, and keep things moving
- Guidance is there when you need it - but you bring the drive. We expect you to be biased toward action
You won't be writing code – but:
- You’ll understand the topics well enough to spot over‑engineering and hold your own in technical discussions and refinements with developers
- You’ll work closely with developers and the Product Owner to unblock decisions and keep delivery flowing
You’ll work hand‑in‑hand with the Product Owner:
- This is a partnership - you’ll be each other's backup and sounding board
- You’ll own SAFe Features end‑to‑end: stakeholder communication, refinement, test preparation, delivery coordination, and documentation
- You’ll pick up whatever the situation needs — wireframing, test scripting, writing user stories, or mapping a process — and you’ll get your hands dirty testing both front‑end and APIs
- You will not be alone, as the whole team will be supporting you
Qualifications
You’ll thrive here if you:
- Get satisfaction from closing loops, not opening them
- Know that "done" means documented, adopted, and actually working
- Bring a foundation in testing and understand how software gets delivered
- Can navigate SAFe/Agile without drowning in ceremony
- Prefer flow over firefighting
- Think in systems, not silos
- Enjoy growing through variety — one day it’s a workshop, the next it’s untangling a deployment problem
- Want to build systems that prevent fires, not just fight them
- Learn by doing, not by watching from the sidelines
What you bring to the table:
- Hands‑on experience as a Quality Analyst, Business Analyst, or in product operations
- Understanding of the software delivery lifecycle
- Technical literacy to coordinate with developers
- Familiarity with Jira and Confluence
- An Agile mindset is a must; SAFe proficiency is an advantage
- Proactivity — you move things forward
- English fluency (German is a plus)
What we offer: our growth creates opportunity - here's what that means for you:
- Ownership of meaningful topics from day one
- A team that values delivery over drama
- Autonomy with support when you need it
- Work Flexibility (Stuttgart‑based is preferable)
