THE ROLE & THE TEAM: Crafting Exceptional Product Experiences

Within Zalando's dynamic engineering landscape, the Client Engineering Reference Experience team plays a pivotal role in shaping how our customers interact with our extensive product catalog. Our core focus is to create an online shopping journey that is not only inspirational and visually engaging but also empowers customers to confidently discover and ultimately purchase the products they desire. We are deeply invested in ensuring a delightful unboxing experience, meticulously striving to ensure that the physical products received perfectly align with and exceed the expectations set during the online browsing and purchasing process.
We achieve this by fundamentally redefining how products are presented to our online audience. Our team is responsible for building and continuously refining customer-facing features that are seamlessly integrated into the product detail page. These features are strategically designed to assist our millions of customers in navigating our vast selection, identifying products that resonate with their individual styles and needs, and making informed purchasing decisions that lead to lasting satisfaction. Ultimately, our work contributes to fostering a more sustainable consumption cycle by encouraging customers to buy products they truly love and will keep.
As an IOS/React Native Engineer joining our Apps Reference Experience team, you will be instrumental in extending our mission-critical work to our mobile applications. You will operate at the forefront of innovation, directly influencing how we define, develop, and own captivating user experiences for our millions of app users. You will become an integral part of a diverse and collaborative team, where knowledge sharing is encouraged, and a collective drive to deliver significant customer impact at scale is paramount. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to high-visibility features that directly shape the customer journey on one of Europe's leading fashion platforms.

WHAT WEd LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING):

• Actively involved in the end-to-end lifecycle of Android and iOS applications, including design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of high-quality software using both native and React Native technologies to deliver exceptional user experiences.

• Share expertise, develop skills collaboratively, and contribute to team knowledge to consistently deliver the best user experience.

• Actively participate in code reviews, providing and receiving feedback to ensure adherence to best practices and high code quality. View feedback as a valuable opportunity for professional growth and team improvement.

• Engage with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate complex requirements into clear, actionable technical designs for the team.

• Proactively take ownership, reduce ambiguity, and break down complex projects into manageable tasks for team collaboration.

• Proactively identify and implement system/process improvements. Contribute to the technical design of scalable, testable, and maintainable new features and architectural proposals.

• Leveraging experience in high-performing teams, you will independently manage end-to-end feature and project delivery. You will also facilitate technical discussions, resolve complex challenges, and support effective team decision-making.

WEd LOVE TO MEET YOU IF:

• You have proven experience developing and shipping React Native applications, a good understanding of React Native fundamentals, and experience working with TypeScript and modern JavaScript.

• Experienced with React Native ecosystem, including Redux for state management and React Navigation.

• You have a good understanding of iOS mobile development and Apple design principles, and hands-on experience integrating native iOS modules.

• Good understanding in Swift. Proficiency in SwiftUI andUIKit is a plus.

• Experienced in building cross-platform mobile apps, skillfully integrating React Native with native modules for platform-specific features.

• Solid experience with CI/CD pipelines for mobile application development, ensuring efficient and reliable releases.

• Experienced in implementing and using monitoring and observability tools and practices to ensure mobile application health, performance, and stability.

• Passionate about clean, well-tested, and maintainable code. Takes ownership and pride in code quality.

• Proven track record in high-performing teams, confidently leading technical discussions, articulating ideas effectively, and independently driving technical decisions while fostering collaboration.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are essential for clearly and concisely articulating complex technical topics and solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Bonus Skills:

• Experienced in shipping high-quality cross-platform code to production.

• Proficient in TypeScript for robust React projects.

• Possesses e-commerce industry experience with insights into its unique challenges and opportunities.
