Role: Software Engineer (All Genders) - Logistics Network Planning Team: Join our dynamic Logistics Network Planning team, where you’ll be at the forefront of shaping the future of Zalando’s logistics operations. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to dive deep into complex network systems, working to optimize the network to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of millions of packages across Europe. Our team is committed to enhancing logistics forecasts that directly influence the efficiency and performance of all our warehouses and transport teams. By developing and implementing scalable forecasting and planning software, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring that our logistics operations are not only efficient but also adaptable to changing demands. Your work will have a tangible impact on how we manage capacity, allocate resources, and maintain the seamless delivery experience that our customers expect. Responsibilities: - Develop and implement forecasting and planning software to enhance decision-making and optimise capacity allocation - Create clean, efficient, and maintainable Python code for Logistics Network planning projects - Take responsibility for the entire development lifecycle, including solution design, testing, implementation, and maintenance - In close collaboration with subject matter experts, resolve operational challenges and assist in identifying appropriate solutions to raising issues. - Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, provide status updates, and deliver project milestones. Qualifications: - 3+ years of experience as a Software Engineer. - Ideally, involved in building machine learning models focused on forecasting, optimization or advanced planning - Ability to ensure robust, scalable, and high-performance system - Proficiency in SQL, relational data warehouses, ETL design and development, and pipeline orchestration. - Experience with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing to ensure robust and reliable software solutions. - Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with team members, stakeholders, and clients. - Experience in technical documentation and creating user guides. - Experience with Databricks. - Must be actively using agentic development practices via tools like Claude, Copilot, etc. What We Offer: - 27 days of holiday a year to start for full-time employees (+1 day for every calendar year up to 30 days) - 40% off fashion and beauty products sold and shipped by Zalando, 30% off Lounge by Zalando, discounts from external partners - Family support, including counselling and dedicated services for parents and carers - Company pension scheme - Employee shares programme - Health and wellbeing options, including Wellhub - Mental health support and coaching - Development through our training platform and biannual peer-to-peer review - 2 paid volunteering days a year - Relocation assistance (subject to prior agreement)
