Software Engineer (all genders)

Role: At Zalando Payments, we build and maintain highly available microservices that control the payment flow from checkout to refund, securing the financial backbone of Zalando's platform. As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will accelerate initiatives to bring the best infrastructure-related technologies to our payment teams and services, creating innovative solutions for deploying, operating, and monitoring mission-critical systems, optimizing workflows, automating infrastructure, and ensuring continuous reliability. Responsibilities: - Design and implement robust platform changes from proof-of-concept to production, continuously improving infrastructure quality. - Optimize and automate operational workflows, develop infrastructure-as-code and automated testing frameworks. - Own the stability of mission-critical systems, applying SRE best practices to troubleshoot issues and maintain high availability. - Identify and implement improvements to platform reliability, alerting, and monitoring frameworks. - Collaborate with teams to implement infrastructural requirements, ensuring seamless production operation. - Share SRE knowledge, mentor colleagues, and foster stronger technical practices. Qualifications: - Strong background in Linux system administration and architecture design, with experience managing highly-scalable environments. - Deep understanding of Kubernetes and Docker ecosystems and cloud-native setups. - Passion for SRE best practices, including infrastructure-as-code and automated testing pipelines. - Ability to write clean, efficient code in Python or Go to automate processes and solve complex challenges. - Strong problem-solving skills and independent decision-making, taking ownership of technical topics. - Curiosity for MLOps or relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Certified Kubernetes Administrator.
