Caterpillar Inc. is the world's leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, off-highway diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives. We have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Engineer for Power Plant Applications to join Caterpillar, supporting the coordination, technical execution, and delivery of projects as well as customer orders related to marine diesel and gas engine systems at our Kiel facility

What You Will Do:

  • Provide functional and disciplinary leadership to Field Service employees
  • Manage, motivate, and develop the service team
  • Ensure appropriate workforce and capacity planning based on business needs
  • Foster a compliant, Safety Driven and customer-focused service culture
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage national and international service assignments
  • Ensure the timely and high-quality quoting and execution of maintenance, repairs, commissioning activities, and technical services
  • Prioritize and manage service requests and critical breakdown situations
  • Monitor compliance with quality, safety, and company standards
  • Professionally handle escalations and critical service cases
  • Work closely with Sales, Engineering, Project Management, Customer Service, Workshop and Spare Parts department
  • Coordinate customer requirements and ensure their effective implementation within Field Service operations
  • Corporate with the global service centers in Asia, Middle East and America
  • Develop and implement standards and best practices
  • Define, monitor, and further develop relevant service KPIs
  • Participate in audits and support the implementation of quality and safety requirements
  • Plan and monitor the Field Service budget
  • Control service costs, travel expenses, and external service provider costs
  • Develop and implement a future-oriented Field Service strategy
  • Build and further develop digital service processes and tools
  • Develop new service offerings
  • Initiate and lead continuous improvement and transformation projects
  • Optimize response and resolution times
  • Standardize and continuously improve service processes

What You Have (Key Skills/Experience Required):

  • Degree or Diploma in mechanical – or electrical engineering, appropriate marine engineer qualifications, or suitable knowledge and experience will be considered.
  • Several years of experience in technical support, testing, or on-site servicing/operating of medium-speed-engines.
  • Leadership skills to lead, motivate, develop and empower employees
  • Make decisions and take accountability
  • Strong planning and prioritization skills with hands-on mentality
  • Strong customer focus and ability to communicate results with dealers and customers both verbally and in writing.
  • Willingness to work in cross-functional international teams.
  • Digital competency in Office 365 and KPI dashboards
  • Willingness to travel worldwide (25%).
  • Very good German (at least C1) and very good English skills (at least B2).

We are back! This role requires being in the office five days a week.
