About this role
Your tasks
- During your internship you will assist in the design and implementation of simulation workflows including the setup of software interfaces, data handling as well as pre- and post-processing to automate comprehensive multiphysics simulations.
- In an interdisciplinary team of scientists, software- and web developers you will support software development from ideation to implementation and testing.
- You will develop algorithms for pre- and post-processing routines and data visualization.
- Additionally, you will also develop material models and assess the use of machine learning methods for particular applications.
- For the development of a material database, you will enhance cloud-based data structures.
- Furthermore, you will develop new Python software modules contributing to the overall simulation workflow.
- Finally, you will be responsible for maintaining code quality, e.g. through Clean Coding, Test Driven Development and Version Control.
Your profile
- Education: studies in the field of Engineering, Computer Science, Natural Sciences, Software Engineering or comparable
- Experience and Knowledge: excellent coding skills in Python (especially in pandas, PyTorch) including version control (e.g. Git) and OOP; experience in creating and working with data structures; experience with numerical simulation methods like FEM or CFD (ideally in Comsol); experience with ParaView and PyVista is a plus
- Personality and Working Practice: you excel at communicating, structuring tasks, and creatively solving problems
- Enthusiasm: passion for "automate everything"
- Languages: very good in German and/or English
