Senior Applied Scientist (All genders)

Role: Senior Applied Scientist in the Marketing Science team at Zalando. Responsibilities: - Own the entire machine learning lifecycle within project scope, from research and formulation to scaling and monitoring. - Partner with engineering teams to transition modeling POCs into robust, fully deployed production systems. - Foster cross-team knowledge sharing and establish best practices in ML and MLOps. - Act as a strategic technical partner for product and commercial stakeholders, translating complex algorithmic concepts into business strategies. Qualifications: - Strong academic foundation (PhD preferred) in Econometrics, Statistics, Machine Learning, or Optimization, with practical industry experience in marketing science. - Proven experience applying optimization techniques in portfolio, marketing, or pricing contexts. - Proficiency in Python, SQL, and PySpark, with high coding and packaging standards. - Self-starter with a track record of architecting data science frameworks in high-ambiguity environments. - Experience mentoring mid-to-junior data scientists and driving technical roadmap.
