About this role
Your tasks
- During your internship, you will assist us with the setup and operation of optical experiments involving lasers and various optical components.
- You will perform precise measurements using instruments such as 3D Microscopy (e.g., confocal, structured light), optical power meters, spectrometers or other relevant optical instrumentation
- In addition, you will record and meticulously document experimental data.
- You will process and analyze measurement data using Python, including data visualization and statistical analysis.
- Furthermore, you will maintain accurate records of experimental procedures and results.
- You will contribute to the upkeep and maintenance of the lab equipment.
- Finally, you will participate in lab meetings and discussions as well as adhere to all lab safety protocols.
Your profile
- Education: studies in the field of Physics, Engineering (Electrical, Optical, Mechanical), Materials Science, or comparable
- Experience and Knowledge: proficiency in Python programming for data analysis (e.g., NumPy, SciPy, Matplotlib), strong foundation in optics, laser physics, and/or materials science, experience with data acquisition and analysis is highly desirable, familiarity with optical instrumentation (microscopes, power meters, spectrometers) is a plus
- Personality and Working Practice: you have strong communication as well as problem-solving skills, an excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills and are able to follow instructions and learn new techniques quickly as well as work independently and as part of a team
- Languages: fluent in English, German is a plus
