About this role
An international bank is looking for a Relationship Manager to join its Japanese Corporate Banking Division in Düsseldorf, Germany.
This position is particularly suited to Relationship Managers who would like to develop stronger Credit Analysis and lending expertise, as well as professionals who already have experience in both Relationship Management and Credit Analysis.
Candidates who have not yet gained hands-on Credit Analysis experience may have the opportunity to spend their initial months within the Credit Department to develop the required technical skills before transitioning into a broader Relationship Manager role.
Main Responsibilities:
- Manage and develop relationships with Japanese corporate clients across various industries
- Act as the primary contact point for assigned customers regarding banking products and services
- Identify business opportunities and support the growth of existing client relationships
- Conduct financial analysis of clients and assess creditworthiness
- Prepare and review internal credit applications, rating applications and lending proposals
- Work closely with internal credit, risk and operations teams to ensure smooth execution of transactions
- Monitor client performance, industry developments and market trends
- Support loan renewals, amendments and new credit facility applications
- Conduct sector and competitor analysis to evaluate clients' market positioning
- Participate in client meetings and contribute to business development activities
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements and credit procedures
Ideal Candidate:
- Bachelor's degree or above in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting or a related field
- Candidates with experience in both client relationship management and credit analysis are particularly encouraged to apply
- Relationship Managers seeking to strengthen their Credit Analysis and credit risk assessment capabilities are also welcome
- Experience preparing credit applications, conducting financial analysis and supporting lending decisions would be highly desirable
- Strong understanding of corporate finance, accounting principles and credit risk assessment
- Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships and identify business opportunities
- Strong commercial awareness, communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
- Experience using banking systems such as GCARS, OVS, FiBridge or ZEUS would be advantageous
- Business fluent German and English is mandatory
- Japanese language skills would be advantageous but are not essential
- Ability to work effectively within an international and multicultural environment
- Candidates without direct Credit Analysis experience may have the opportunity to spend an initial period within the Credit Department to develop the required technical expertise
