Senior Expert Direct Tax Reporting (all genders)

Role Senior Expert Direct Tax Reporting (all genders) – key expert for direct tax reporting, owning the group’s tax numbers and representing Zalando’s tax positions. Responsible for direct tax reporting under IFRS as part of the quarterly financial reporting cycle, leading the process, output, and underlying tax technology. Scope includes new reporting obligations such as OECD Pillar 2, public CbCR, Tax Contribution and ESG reporting. Responsibilities - Lead all tax reporting processes within the financial reporting cycle and ensure thorough documentation. - Mentor and train the tax team, providing knowledge and tools for accurate calculation of current and deferred tax positions. - Act as primary contact for Finance and external auditors, ensuring timely and accurate recording of tax numbers. - Prepare transparent tax analytics for tax leadership to facilitate clear communication. - Own and develop direct tax tools, implementing new solutions including AI where appropriate. - Meet additional reporting obligations for the Group (OECD Pillar 2, public CbCR, Tax Contribution, ESG). Qualifications - Degree in tax, law, economics, business administration or a comparable field. - Deep expertise in corporate tax accounting, financial reporting and consolidation (IFRS and/or German GAAP). - Understanding of CbCR and Pillar 2 with interest in OECD/EU tax reporting developments. - Proven track record of implementing and owning complex financial processes and controls, with an analytical mindset and focus on continuous improvement. - SAP knowledge or experience with other analytical programs; ability to communicate outcomes to non‑specialists. - Fluent in English (written and spoken) and proactive with a strong sense of ownership.
