Role: Applied Scientist (all genders) – B2B Data Science and Algorithms. Join the ZEOS department to develop machine learning and optimization solutions for Zalando's B2B logistics partners, improving inventory health and order fulfilment efficiency. Responsibilities: - Build and deploy ML/DL forecasting models for demand, returns, and lead‑times. - Design stochastic inventory optimization and recommendation services for assortment planning. - Develop and evaluate Agentic AI systems and associated metrics. - Collaborate with product managers, data engineers, software engineers, and other applied scientists. - Own end‑to‑end delivery from research and prototyping to production, defining success metrics and monitoring real‑world impact. - Contribute to platform‑level services that scale across hundreds of partners. Qualifications: - Master's degree or higher in a quantitative field (preferred). - 3+ years of industry experience as an Applied Scientist, Data Scientist, or Research Scientist. - Strong expertise in at least one area: machine learning/time‑series forecasting, ML engineering, operations research & optimization, or Agentic AI. - Proficiency with SQL and large‑scale data processing. - Excellent communication skills to convey complex scientific concepts to product and business stakeholders. - Collaborative, product‑oriented mindset with an entrepreneurial attitude.
