About this role

Role: In Customer Care Technology, we build intelligent applications and infrastructure that support millions of customers and thousands of care specialists. We are seeking an Applied Scientist to join our Berlin‑based Applied Science team. You will design, build, and scale cutting‑edge AI systems using Deep Learning, LLMs and agentic workflows to optimize customer self‑service solutions handling millions of queries monthly. Responsibilities: - Define research plans that translate business challenges into structured projects and drive them from discovery to production deployment. - Build AI applications: design, evaluate, and scale DL and LLM models, predictive models, and agentic workflows. - Own production systems: manage the end‑to‑end lifecycle of AI models, including design, performance optimisation, deployment and monitoring. - Collaborate with product managers, data engineers and software engineers to integrate AI solutions into customer service. - Elevate best practices for research methodologies, ensuring high‑quality, reproducible experiments. Qualifications: - Proven production experience with research projects and the deployment of customer‑facing AI products. - Strong expertise in Machine Learning, Deep Learning and Natural Language Processing, with experience building LLM applications. - Solid understanding of modern AI architectures, including deep learning models, agentic workflows and Retrieval‑Augmented Generation. - Strong programming skills in Python (e.g., PyTorch, PydanticAI), SQL and experience with data platforms such as Databricks. - Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts to both technical peers and business stakeholders. - Collaborative, results‑driven mindset, comfortable navigating uncertainty and proactively identifying high‑value research opportunities.
