Backend Engineer - ZEOS (all genders)

Role: Backend Software Engineer on the B2B Platform team at Zalando. The team builds high-performance services that power partner-facing products in an API-first environment, turning complex business logic into scalable, reliable software. Responsibilities: - Develop robust services: Build and maintain scalable microservices using Java and Spring Boot, ensuring clean, well-documented, and performant code. - Design clean APIs: Contribute to the design and implementation of RESTful services for customer portals and internal tools. - Own your code: Take responsibility for the full development cycle, including design, testing, and deployment using Gradle and CI/CD pipelines. - Ensure operational health: Participate in deployment and operation of services within AWS and Kubernetes, monitoring and troubleshooting in production. - Collaborate and grow: Participate in code reviews and team ceremonies, providing and receiving feedback to maintain high code quality. - Think end-to-end: Collaborate with frontend engineers and show interest in fullstack context to deliver seamless partner experiences. Qualifications: - Solid Java foundation with professional experience and good understanding of Spring Boot. - Familiarity with microservice architectures, REST APIs, and data handling (e.g., Jackson). - Proven track record of delivering stable features in an agile environment and taking ownership from discovery to delivery. - Comfortable with build tools like Gradle and interest in automated testing and CI/CD workflows. - Eager to work with AWS and Kubernetes, embracing the 'You Write It, You Run It' mindset. - Strong English skills and enjoy collaborative problem-solving in a diverse, international team.
