Zalando fulfils more than a hundred million customer orders every year and volumes are increasing. Fulfillment Core within Zalando builds and operates systems that are at the core of Zalando’s platform strategy and ensure timely, efficient, and correct delivery of every one of our customers’ 185+ million orders every year.

As a Full-stack Software Engineer in the Fulfillment Offering domain, you will work on the systems that provide transparency about delivery information to our customers throughout the entire shopping process (incl. product detail page, cart, and checkout). These systems help our customers stay informed and select the most relevant delivery options. To enable this we not only build and operate highly available systems at scale, but we also contribute to the customer experience that is shaping how our customers learn about the information we provide. Every decision we make has an impact on our customers, so we are constantly running experiments and learning from the results.

You’ll find our Berlin campus and HQ in the vibrant area of Friedrichshain. With amazing views of the Spree river and East Side Gallery, it’s a campus designed to inspire. WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

Contribute to key initiatives that impact how our customers are informed about delivery information throughout the shopping journey.
Design, develop, and deploy new features for our microservices in collaboration with other engineers on the team.
Ensure high standards in both technical and operational excellence.
Share your knowledge by contributing to our growing community and participating in our internal guilds.
Collaborate with other teams in Zalando to improve the way delivery information is presented to customers on the various touchpoints in their customer journey.

WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

You have extensive experience with JavaScript and ReactJS or similar frameworks. Experience with TypeScript or React Native is a plus.
You have a good understanding of a JVM based language like Java or Kotlin. Basic knowledge of the Spring Boot framework is a plus and welcomed.
You are proficient in writing well-tested and reusable code, irrespective of the language it is written in.
You have experience in building and operating systems at scale.
You work well in cross-functional teams and are skilled at communicating complex technical concepts. Building relationships across teams and departments will be key to your success.
