About this role

We help the world run better

At SAP, we keep it simple: you bring your best to us, and we'll bring out the best in you. We're builders touching over 20 industries and 80% of global commerce, and we need your unique talents to help shape what's next. The work is challenging – but it matters. You'll find a place where you can be yourself, prioritize your wellbeing, and truly belong. What's in it for you? Constant learning, skill growth, great benefits, and a team that wants you to grow and succeed.

What You’ll Build

The SAP Internship Experience Program is SAP’s global, strategic, paid internship program that provides university students with opportunities to find purpose in their careers. This is more than an internship; it’s the foundation for a career built on connection, creativity, and impact.

In this role, you’ll build, develop, and create backend and frontend components within international team for our CX Commerce and Intelligent Selling Services platforms with a strong focus on practical engineering work: diagnosing and fixing production bugs, performing compliance rework (updating libraries, removing vulnerable dependencies, and improving code quality), implementing new features, participating in code reviews, and preparing clear technical documentation and tests.

You’ll be responsible for delivering production-ready bug fixes and patches on time; executing library and dependency upgrades that meet security and compliance requirements; improving code quality through refactoring, static analysis, and automated testing; developing new features that extend search, personalization, and merchandising capabilities; providing thoughtful code reviews and guidance to peers; and producing or updating documentation (design notes, runbooks, API docs, and release notes) so the team can operate and iterate reliably.

Your work will directly impact system reliability, security/compliance posture, time-to-market for new merchandising features, developer productivity, and customer-facing metrics such as discoverability, conversion, and engagement — as well as the long-term maintainability of our codebase.

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for someone who takes the initiative, perseveres, and stays curious. You like to work on meaningful innovative projects and are energized by lifelong learning.

Student (f/m/d) at a university or a university of applied sciences

Required qualifications:

  • Practical programming experience in Java
  • Familiarity with Git, code review processes, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience or comfort with debugging production issues, reading stack traces, and using logs/metrics to diagnose problems
  • Basic understanding of dependency management and software security/compliance concerns
  • Very good communication skills in English (min B2 level)

Nice to have:

  • Frontend experience (React/TypeScript) and working with REST APIs
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure)

Soft skills:

  • Eagerness to learn new things in a relatively timely manner
  • Ability to connect the facts from different origins in problem solving

Working from Munich office is required.
