What You’ll Build

The SAP Internship Experience Program is SAP’s global, strategic, paid internship program that provides university students with opportunities to find purpose in their careers. This is more than an internship; it’s the foundation for a career built on connection, creativity, and impact.

As a Data Scientist intern in our Strategic Innovation Projects Team, you will work on innovative projects that emphasize the value proposition of SAP Business AI. Under the supervision of senior developers, you will have the chance to directly interact with customers and users to perform all necessary tasks. You will be responsible for data exploration, data engineering, and data cleaning to ensure high-quality inputs for AI-driven solutions. You will also analyze AI workflows to rate and enhance them, identifying opportunities to improve performance, efficiency, and reliability. In addition, you will support model evaluation, adaptation, and integration into platforms and products, helping to deliver robust AI features to real end users. You will have the chance to directly work with an agile group of students with a tech and design background to bring ideas together and jointly deliver data-driven solutions that create real impact to real end users.

We are looking for a data science student who is equally comfortable with analytical thinking and software engineering practices. You should be able to contribute to an AI feature at every stage to craft what is needed to deliver a great experience to real end users.

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for someone who takes the initiative, perseveres, and stays curious. You like to work on meaningful innovative projects and are energized by lifelong learning.

• Student at a university of applied sciences in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field
• Technical skills: Foundational knowledge in machine learning, and data analysis methods
• Strong problem analysis and qualitative evaluation skills
• Experience in source code management (e.g. git)
• Experience in Frontend Development (TypeScript, React) or Backend Development (e.g. Python, Java, Rust)
• Knowledge about UX fundamentals and methods
• Language skills: Fluent in English (written and spoken), German is a plus
• Soft skills: Eager to learn about new technologies, hands-on, reliable and open-minded mentality, strong team working skills, determined to reach a goal in time, to work independently and to prioritize tasks
