About this role
Role:
Senior Applied Scientist in Zalando Payments, Risk Management Department, responsible for developing risk models and causal inference predictors, covering the full ML lifecycle with a production mindset.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct data deep dives and generate insights.
- Create, deploy, and monitor machine learning models.
- Research and apply new ML methods to improve fraud detection.
- Work with diverse data sets (networks, natural language, customer history).
- Develop and maintain scalable ML pipelines.
- Drive innovation and measurable business impact.
- Collaborate with operations, internal tool developers, and other functional areas.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience productionizing ML algorithms (data collection, model development, deployment, monitoring).
- Familiarity with payments, risk, or fraud domains.
- Strong research skills in ML methods.
- Collaborative mindset across functional teams.
- Passion for uncovering insights in data and conducting experiments.
- Analytics background (e.g., A/B testing, SQL).
