We are partnering with an international renewable energy IPP to appoint a Country Manager for Germany, responsible for leading and scaling the local project development platform across utility-scale PV and battery storage.
This is a senior leadership role with full responsibility for strategy, development oversight, and team leadership in the German market.
The Role
The Country Manager will define and execute the German growth strategy in line with wider European objectives and act as the ultimate decision-maker across the development portfolio.
Key responsibilities include:
Setting and delivering the country-level strategy for Germany, aligned with long-term growth plans
Overseeing the full development lifecycle of PV and BESS projects, from early-stage origination through RTB and COD, with a focus on coordination, governance, and decision-making
Providing strategic and technical direction to local development teams, grounded in hands-on project experience
Taking ownership of key decisions related to:
Project structuring and development pathways
Commercial terms and risk management strategies
Go / no-go decisions at critical project milestones
Building, managing, and developing a local German team, including priority setting, KPIs, and performance management
Coordinating and steering external stakeholders, including:
Legal, technical, and environmental advisors
TSOs, DSOs, and grid connection partners
Municipalities and strategic partners
Supporting project financing activities, working closely with investors, lenders, and financial advisors
Ensuring a smooth handover from development into construction, maintaining close collaboration with EPC partners
Monitoring timelines, budgets, and risk exposure across the portfolio, escalating and intervening at management level where required
Representing the business in senior-level meetings and negotiations, primarily in an office or formal environment
Candidate Profile
8–10+ years’ experience in renewable energy, with a strong focus on utility-scale PV project development
Demonstrated end-to-end development experience, with personal involvement in critical development phases
Exposure to BESS projects, ideally from a development, structuring, or commercial perspective
Strong understanding of German permitting, grid connection, and regulatory frameworks
Proven leadership experience managing teams and complex development portfolios
Comfortable operating in a strategic, office-based leadership role, while retaining technical and commercial credibility
Excellent analytical, decision-making, and stakeholder management skills
Fluent in German and English
Advantageous Background
Experience supporting project financing and investment processes
Exposure to the EPC side of PV and/or BESS projects
Experience working within an international or multi-country organisation
