As an Applied Scientist at Zalando Lounge, you will foster data-driven decision-making by designing and analyzing complex A/B tests and serve as an in-house expert on causal inference and statistical modelling. You will influence development in key areas of our business, such as Pricing. Together with fellow economists on our team, you will represent our business unit in long-term company-wide research efforts that directly impact company strategy and product development.

Designing and carrying out experiments to address business questions. For example, evaluate a new pricing algorithm through A/B testing.
Collaborate with other applied scientists, product managers, software developers, data engineers, data analysts and commercial stakeholders.
Present your research to senior management and discuss its business implications.
Act as an expert and consultant for analysts embedded in individual business teams wishing to employ experimental or quasi-experimental methods.
Ph.D. in Economics or a similar field with an emphasis on quantitative research methods. At least two years of experience post-Ph.D.
Proven expertise in A/B testing.
Strong general scientific problem solving skills.
Highly proficient in R and/or Python and strong knowledge of SQL. Hands-on experience with Jupyter Notebooks, Airflow, Data Build Tool (DBT), PySpark, Databricks, and Git is a plus.
Able to communicate analytical insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience with quasi-experimental research methods (e.g. matching, difference-in-differences) is an advantage.
