About this role
Your tasks
The shaft-gear-bearing-housing system represents a central configuration within gear transmission mechanisms. This research project aims to extend existing gear transmission dynamics with various nonlinearities, including bearing clearance and misalignment. A key objective is to analyze and assess the dynamic performance of the gear transmission.
- During your thesis, you will conduct a comprehensive literature review on the state-of-the-art in nonlinear dynamic simulation of gears.
- Subsequently, you will implement nonlinear dynamic models utilizing the harmonic balance method.
- Furthermore, you will comparatively analyze the results obtained from employing various nonlinear modeling approaches.
- Finally, you will document and formally present your findings.
Your profile
- Education: Master studies in the field of Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computational Mechanics or comparable
- Experience and Knowledge: strong fundamentals in structural dynamics and numerical methods (FEM, time integration schemes)
- Personality and Working Practice: you independently conduct research with strong analytical skills and motivation, proactively contributing to the team while maintaining project oversight
- Languages: fluent in English
