Master Thesis Student (f/m/d) - Supply Chain Management Data Scienc on Agentic AI
About this role
We help the world run better
At SAP, we keep it simple: you bring your best to us, and we'll bring out the best in you. We're builders touching over 20 industries and 80% of global commerce, and we need your unique talents to help shape what's next. The work is challenging – but it matters. You'll find a place where you can be yourself, prioritize your wellbeing, and truly belong. What's in it for you? Constant learning, skill growth, great benefits, and a team that wants you to grow and succeed.
What you'll build
As a master thesis student (f/m/d) in the Supply Chain Management (SCM) Data Science team, you will work on autonomous generation of multi-agent systems for Supply Chain planning.
Modern supply chain are large and incredibly complex interconnected networks that rely on planning runs to optimize operations, and understanding the results of such planning run can be quite challenging. The ability to provide intelligent diagnostic support would transform raw planning computations into actionable insights for planners.
Autonomous multi-agent systems (MAS) that dynamically generate agentic workflows, assign specialized roles to agents, facilitate collaborative work, and continuously improve their processes represent the cutting edge of agentic system research. However, while autonomous MAS show promise for complex analytical tasks, their effectiveness in enterprise supply chain environments remains largely unexplored.
Evaluate the viability of autonomous multi-agent systems for enterprise supply chain analysis by addressing two critical gaps:
- Benchmark Development: Create a comprehensive, curated dataset of progressively complex supply chain analysis scenarios that require multi-step SQL queries and sophisticated SAP schema navigation. If suitable, the benchmark dataset can be based on existing open-source datasets.
- System Validation: Assess autonomous agentic systems’ capability to provide intelligent, accurate assistance for supply chain planning queries while abstracting away technical complexity from end users.
What you bring
- Student (f/m/d) at a university or a university of applied sciences
- Preferred fields of study: Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Information Systems, Physics, or Mathematics
- Very strong programming skills
- Experience with ML concepts, AI frameworks and tools is highly desired.
- Language skills: Fluent in English and German
- Soft skills: Interest in applied research and practical application of innovative technologies, team player, creative, strong communicator.
