TU Munich has been named as the best university in Germany for the ninth consecutive year. According to the 2024 QS World University Rankings, the university is the second most highly-esteemed university in the European Union and 37th worldwide.

2024 QS World University Ranking

The QS World University Ranking has been collated for the last 12 years and ranks more than 1.500 higher education institutions across the world. For 2024, the index has been updated to include nine parameters, each weighted according to their importance.

The nine metrics are Academic Reputation, Citations per Faculty, Employer Reputation, Faculty-to-Student Ratio, International Faculty Ratio, International Student Ratio, Sustainability, Employment Outcomes and International Research Network, in order of weighting. A first for the QS Ranking, this year's index also included international research networks and sustainability as part of its ranking criteria.

This year’s first-place ranking was given to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The university is now celebrating its 12th year at the top.
