Ballet talent on Berlin’s most beautiful stage

The world-famous ballet competition, the Youth Grand Prix, is taking place in Germany for the first time in 2021. On the final day, one of the most important days of the year in Germany, October 3, young talented dancers from all over the world will present their skills on one of the most beautiful stages in Berlin - the Admiralspalast. 

At the Youth Grand Prix Germany, classical dance talents between the ages of nine and 19 compete in front of a top-notch jury for one of the coveted places in the dance scholarship programme. The competition starts on September 30 and culminates with the gala on October 3 on one of Berlin’s most iconic stages - and you’re invited to the show.

World-famous ballet dancers join rising talent

The show brings together world-famous artists and rising stars in a stage programme of the highest quality that spans more than 100 years of classical ballet history. It's a unique opportunity for the young talents to gather stage experience alongside renowned dancers and in front of a large audience.

Joining the show on October 3 are: 

  • Lucia Lacarra and Matthew Golding of Ballett Dortmund
  • Kristina Kretova and Igor Tsvirko of the Bolshoi Ballet Moscow
  • Maria Khoreva and Kimin Kim of the Mariinsky Ballet St. Petersburg
  • Dorothée Gilbert and Hugo Marchand of the Paris Opera Ballet
  • Elisa Carrillo Cabrera and Mikhail Kaniskin (formerly) of the Staatsballett Berlin
  • Mackenzie Brown and Henrik Erikson of the Stuttgart Ballet
  • Nicoletta Manni and Timofej Andrijashenko of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan
  • As well as students of the Staatliche Ballettschule Berlin and the winners of Germany’s first Youth Grand Prix. 

The show has been put together by Mikhail Kaniskin, former Staatsoper Ballet dancer and now an international ballet promoter. “We are very excited to be able to present renowned artists together with our young people on such a wonderful stage as the Admiralpalast. We are sure it will be a great evening,” he said. 

About the YAGP

In search of promising young dancers, the YAGP holds annual auditions, performances and workshops in 40 different venues around the world. After the United States of America, Australia, Argentina, Brazil, Belgium, Canada, China, France, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Peru and Spain, the event will be held in Germany for the first time in 2021. 

As a non-profit organization, the YAGP has been supporting young talent between the ages of 9 and 19 for 20 years, enabling scholarship recipients to receive a first-class ballet education at one of the world's leading schools.
