The Role

The Regional Physical Security Field Operations Team is part of Global Physical Security group under the SAP Global Security & Cloud Compliance organization reporting to the CS&D board area.

As the Head of Regional Physical Security Field Operations, you are responsible to develop and enhance SAP’s Global Physical Security vision, mission, and strategy on a regional level, to oversee organizational budget and spend, and to manage and oversee the tactical and operational side of physical security operations.

What You’ll Do

  • Area of responsibility is regional; however, role serves as part of the Global Physical Security Field Operations Leadership Team.
  • Accountable for successful and consistent delivery of multiple physical security operations and programs, projects, crisis response and travel security case management up and down the organization.
  • Accountable and responsible for management and governance of standards, policies, and procedures for physical security personnel and third‑party partners in the region.
  • Accountable for successful management of third‑party guard force operations in region.
  • Accountable for decision making with a very high level of regulatory, compliance, financial, and brand impact and/or a very high complexity of work and life safety.
  • Manage relationships with Real Estate & Facilities, HR, IT, Data Center, and other stakeholder partners globally, regionally, and locally, including outside service providers and business partners.
  • Responsible for the overall management of risk and compliance activities within the region while providing reporting and stewardship with key stakeholders, teams and executive management.
  • Accountable for customer engagement, knowledge management, quality assurance and organizational learning. Transfer the relevant knowledge across organizational boundaries.
  • Regional Head of Physical Security will maintain the highest level of professionalism in all activities to represent the organization internally and externally, while serving as a trusted advisor and ambassador for SAP and affiliated companies.
  • Manage security program areas related to the efficiency of the financial, operational, and overall compliance of the organization. Improve the effectiveness of the organization and its processes.
  • Possess deep understanding of their industry and identify and collect key market information/trends and apply to the organization/processes.
  • Leader of physical security processes and interfaces across organizational boundaries inside and outside of Global Physical Security management that relate to area of responsibility.
  • Drive operational excellence and quality assurance by providing best practices, problem solving, and guidance/leadership for improvements related to complex matters within his/her area of responsibility.
  • Serve as mentor/coach/thought leader.
  • Develop and provide reporting to in‑line and executive management related to KPIs, SLAs and other internal and external goals/objectives/programs.
  • Responsible for hiring and development of talent for the future of the organization.
  • Conduct performance/salary management and all matters related to people management.
  • The Senior Security Manager is typically accountable for 7‑15 direct reports and a significant number of indirect reports.
  • Support development of main strategy for organization on global or regional level.
    • Serve as a full‑time member of the Field Operations Security Program Area (SPA) working group.
    • Serve as consulted member of several governance development workgroups which may include intelligence, investigations, crisis management and travel security, events and personnel protection, and applications and technology.
  • Oversee entire Field Operations organizational budget on a regional level.
  • Manage the tactical and operational side of Physical Security Operations on a regional level.
    • Management responsibility for overseeing 24/7/365 SOC staffing and operations responsible for regional alarm monitoring, response, and communications.
    • Actively engage in SAP’s Global Crisis Management Team serving as a regional CMT member or champion.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in higher education certificates required; Master’s degree or equivalent preferred
  • Very good understanding for security operations and SOC framework
  • Extraordinary communication skills; sense for urgency and excellent communication skills for executive communication
  • Ability to withstand hectic and stress during emergency situations
  • Fluent English language skills
  • Additional languages considered a bonus
  • Solution‑oriented working mentality
  • Established network as well as established contacts to relevant operations or other providers/networks
  • Ability to present and discuss Operational Security topics with executive management, SAP customers and auditors

Work Experience

  • 10+ years working experience in Corporate Security or a combination of equivalent experience (military, law enforcement, private security, etc.)
  • Experience with large scale security operations in a multinational company environment required
  • Experience with external providers/networks or comparable organizations required
  • Membership on advanced level in professional body (e.g. ASIS, OSAC) preferred
