Lounge by Zalando is an exclusive online shopping club for fashion and lifestyle products across Europe. We provide our members with daily, time-limited sales campaigns featuring discounts of up to 75%. Our mission is to offer the best shopping experience, and to do that, we need talented engineers to help shape the future of our platform.

As a Senior Software Engineer at Lounge by Zalando, you'll join a cross-functional team that will shape the next chapter in our customer experience. You'll collaborate with mobile, web, and backend engineers, as well as product managers and designers, all working towards creating a seamless and delightful shopping journey. We support your growth with opportunities to work with modern technologies and learn from experienced peers.

*This is a one-year fixed-term position covering maternity leave until 31.08.2027.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

• Contribute to the design, development, and operation of scalable, reliable, low-latency backend solutions for our customer facing applications.
• Write clean, robust, and maintainable code, focusing on high quality and automated tests.
• Take an active part in solution design, architecture discussions, technical decisions, and production readiness reviews.
• Participate in code reviews and adhere to best practices, using feedback as a means of personal and team growth.
• Collaborate effectively within a cross-functional team, iterating quickly during the product development cycle.
• Influence and proactively help in the growth of juniors and peers through mentoring or coaching.

WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

• You have at least 4 years of professional development experience on frontend web technologies.
• You are highly proficient in TypeScript and React, with deep knowledge of modern build tools like Webpack and the Node.js ecosystem. Check our Tech Radar for more information on the technologies we use at Zalando.
• You are comfortable working with AWS and Kubernetes and believe that automated testing and CI/CD are non-negotiable parts of the development process.
• You are passionate about working in an agile, cross-functional team, iterating quickly during the product development cycle. As well as, ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with business stakeholders, product managers, and engineering peers.
• You stay up-to-date with current trends in web services and software design, always looking for ways to improve our tech stack and developer experience.
• You are self-motivated and have a proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement.
• You are proficient in identifying and solving production related issues and bottlenecks in systems.
• You have experience with incident management and root cause analysis.
