Accounting Associate

A Japanese trading house is currently recruiting an Accountant to join their Accounting team in Düsseldorf, Germany. In this role, you will be responsible for daily accounting operations, accounts receivable/payable management, expense processing, audit support, tax-related reporting, and general accounting duties. Understanding of Japanese culture and some Japanese language skills would be advantageous.

Accountant Main Responsibilities

• Entering customer and vendor information into the system
• Posting invoices (purchases, expenses)
• Arranging payments to vendors
• Reconciling accounts receivable and accounts payable
• Monitoring accounts receivable collection
• Reviewing and processing employee and representative office expense reports
• Supporting statutory, tax, and internal audits
• Supporting group consolidation work
• Supporting VAT returns, VAT reconciliation, and other tax-related reports
• Balance confirmations with intercompany entities and third parties
• Assisting with general accounting matters
• Payroll calculation is outsourced
• Corporate tax calculation is also outsourced

Accountant Ideal Candidate

• Accounting experience (junior to associate level acceptable)
• Business-level fluency in English
• Understanding of basic accounting principles
• Experience with Microsoft NAV / Business Central (or other major ERP systems)
• Experience with VAT returns, reconciliation, Bundesbank/tax reporting (e.g., Z5/Z4/ZM reports)
• Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and time management skills
