Accounting Manager / Assistant Accounting Manager

A Japanese global logistics service provider is currently recruiting an Accounting Manager / Assistant Accounting Manager to join their Düsseldorf office.

In this role, you will be responsible for a wide range of accounting operations, including payments, reconciliations, reporting, audits, and tax-related matters, while supporting the financial activities of the business and its international network.

The ideal candidate will have accounting experience, knowledge of German GAAP and tax regulations, strong ERP and Excel skills, and business-level English and German language abilities.

Main Responsibilities:

• Manage daily accounting operations, including invoice processing, document management, and bank reconciliations
• Review supplier invoices and exchange rates
• Process weekly payments and maintain petty cash records
• Prepare monthly and bi-monthly financial reports and statements
• Arrange payments for subsidiaries, agents, and customs-related matters
• Prepare profit, warehouse, and management reports
• Support annual audits and tax-related processes
• Assist with personal income tax filings for expatriate employees
• Communicate with banks and maintain accurate financial records

Ideal Candidate:

Essential:

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
• Knowledge of German GAAP and German tax regulations
• Experience using ERP systems and advanced MS Excel skills
• Business-level English and German language skills
• Strong attention to detail and a structured, analytical approach
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an international team
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

Preferred:

• Experience within the logistics, freight forwarding, or transportation industry
• Experience in Inside Sales, Customer Service, or Pricing functions
• Familiarity with international business environments and cross-border operations
