Data Science Manager (f/m/d): ABAP Foundation Model

What you’ll do

• Form and lead a diverse team of data scientists and data engineers.
• Oversee the development, fine‑tuning, and delivery of foundation models to streamline SAP customers’ cloud transformation journeys.
• Ensure alignment of team objectives with the broader goals of the ABAP Foundation Model unit and coordinate with different stakeholders within SAP.

What you bring

• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
• Strong expertise in data science, machine learning algorithms, and NLP.
• 10+ years of related professional experience with experience in shipping features and ML models to production.
• 2+ years experience in managing and leading data science teams.
• 1+ years of experience working with fine tuning LLM models.
• Experience finetuning LLMs for Code Generation (good to have).
• Demonstrated ability to inspire, mentor, and develop high‑performing teams.
• Exceptional comfort with ambiguity and a bias toward iterative action, continuously informing strategy with empirical data and frequent feedback loops.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience working with cross‑functional teams and managing research collaborations.

We focus on creating and refining our own Foundation Models using SAP Business Data, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with AI in business applications.
