Engineering Manager - ZEOS Integration (all genders)

Role: Engineering Manager – B2B Platform (ZEOS) at Zalando. Lead a high‑impact team of up to 10 engineers, bridging technical excellence and product delivery to build a high‑performance, API‑first logistics platform. Responsibilities: - Empower and grow talent: attract, hire, retain, mentor engineers and foster a culture of ownership and psychological safety. - Drive technical vision: partner with Product Management and Principal Engineers to execute a mid‑to‑long‑term roadmap for the ZEOS platform. - Ensure operational excellence: own the full software development lifecycle, oversee CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and guarantee resilient, secure, cost‑efficient services. - Facilitate smart architecture: review architectural decisions, understand trade‑offs, and guide the team in distributed systems. - Master cross‑functional collaboration: act as a key liaison for stakeholders, translate business needs into technical execution, and maintain transparent communication. - Optimize processes: champion Agile methodologies to continuously improve development speed and code quality in a fast‑paced B2B environment. Qualifications: - 5+ years experience managing engineering teams (up to 10 people) with a proven track record of talent development. - Strong technical depth in both frontend and backend (Java/Spring Boot, TypeScript/React), REST APIs and microservices. - Platform mindset: experience building reusable, scalable services that serve as foundations for other teams. - Operations & CI/CD focus: expertise in cloud environments (AWS/Kubernetes), automated testing and modern deployment strategies. - Strategic thinker: able to translate high‑level KPIs and business goals into actionable engineering tasks. - Excellent communicator: fluent in English, adept at simplifying complex technical and organizational challenges.
