About this role
Role:
The B2B Platform department is the core engine enabling Zalando partners to integrate and scale within the Zalando ecosystem. As an Engineering Manager you will lead a high‑impact team of up to 10 engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, continuous learning and psychological safety. You will work closely with Product Managers and Principal Engineers to translate complex business requirements into a reliable, API‑first platform that supports the logistics ecosystem.
Responsibilities:
- Attract, hire and retain a diverse team of top‑tier engineers; mentor and support individual career growth.
- Partner with Product Management and Principal Engineers to define and execute a mid‑to‑long‑term technical roadmap for the ZEOS platform.
- Own the full software development lifecycle, overseeing CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices and ensuring services are resilient, secure and cost‑efficient.
- Review architectural decisions, understand trade‑offs and guide the team in building reusable, scalable platform services.
- Serve as a key liaison for stakeholders, translating business needs into technical execution and maintaining transparent communication.
- Champion Agile methodologies to continuously improve development speed, code quality and adaptability in a fast‑paced B2B environment.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years experience managing engineering teams (up to 10 people) with a proven track record of talent development and team engagement.
- Strong technical background in both frontend and backend technologies (Java/Spring Boot, TypeScript/React) and deep understanding of REST APIs and micro‑services.
- Platform mindset: experience building reusable, scalable services that serve as foundations for other teams and partners.
- Expertise in cloud environments (AWS/Kubernetes), automated testing, CI/CD and modern deployment strategies.
- Ability to translate high‑level KPIs and business goals into actionable engineering tasks.
- Excellent communication skills in English, capable of simplifying complex technical and organizational challenges.
