Software Engineer (all genders) React / React Native

Role: Software Engineer (all genders) React / React Native Team: Module Store, a horizontal platform team owning the Zalando Design System (ZDS), Central Accessibility (A11y), and the central module repository. Mission is to build scalable products and tooling that empower technical teams to ship features faster, consistently, and with high reusability. Responsibilities: - Build and maintain our central React-based component library for mobile and web based products - Deliver high-quality code with performance, accessibility, maintainability and stability as the primary focus - Collaborate closely with experienced engineers, designers and product owners - Elevate our shared processes and tools to support a large number of teams working on a diverse array of products - Drive the adoption of our Design System across the company - Document and evangelize best practices for UI development, accessibility and Component usage - Serve as a technical advisor to other engineering teams and leadership - Partner with the core platform teams to deliver core architecture of the web framework - Make a positive impact on our growing tech community Qualifications: Must have: - Strong expertise in React - Thrive on collaboration, working side by side with people of all backgrounds and disciplines - Capable of working both collaboratively and independently - Care about code quality and have a passion for building a high-impact, well-performing developer experience - Passion for improving developer and designer workflows - Curious mind and enjoy keeping up to date with the latest technologies - Systematic approach to problem-solving - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Solid foundation of core front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JS) - Good knowledge of cross-platform browser compatibility restrictions and requirements - Good knowledge of Unit and Visual testing strategies and frameworks like React Testing Library, Jest and Playwright - Knowledge of Typescript would be a plus - Comfortable working with Plus: - Experience with React Native Big Plus: - Extensive experience in developing and maintaining Design Systems with a strong focus on accessibility (A11Y) What We Offer: - 27 days of holiday a year to start for full-time employees (+1 day for every calendar year up to 30 days) - 40% off fashion and beauty products sold and shipped by Zalando, 30% off Lounge by Zalando, discounts from external partners - Family support, including counselling and dedicated services for parents and carers - Company pension scheme - Employee shares programme - Health and wellbeing options, including Wellhub - Mental health support and coaching - Development through our training platform and biannual peer-to-peer review - 2 paid volunteering days a year - Relocation assistance (subject to prior agreement)
