Senior Category Manager - Maternity cover(all genders)

Role: As a Senior Buyer in Beauty at Zalando, you will join a high‑performing team shaping the future of skincare. You will own a brand portfolio, develop strategies to acquire new partners, and drive growth within the Skincare unit. You will lead junior and assistant buyers and collaborate closely with Merchandising to meet unit KPIs. This is a 12‑month maternity‑cover role. Responsibilities: - Drive portfolio excellence: own brand portfolio, set creative direction, identify skincare trends for a market‑leading assortment. - Strategic brand acquisition: hunt and onboard new brands, use marketing insights to boost visibility and attract consumers. - Partner for performance: work with Merchandising to define strategy, manage budgets, and take data‑driven actions to maximise unit profit. - Master negotiations: negotiate optimal terms with external partners. - Build relationships: develop long‑term relationships with global brand partners. - Cross‑functional collaboration: coordinate with Marketing, Content, Photo Production, and Logistics for a seamless customer experience. Qualifications: - Minimum 4 years buying experience in a head‑office or e‑commerce environment, preferably in Beauty. - Deep knowledge of the beauty industry and strong sense of upcoming skincare trends. - Excellent analytical skills; proficient with Google Suite and MS Office (especially Excel). - Strong negotiation and communication skills with a proven track record in business acquisition. - Agile, proactive, and able to thrive in fast‑paced environments. - Collaborative spirit; experience mentoring junior colleagues while working independently.
