Senior Enterprise Automation Engineer - Logistics Development (all genders)

Role The Logistics Development team drives speed, efficiency and continuous innovation across Zalando’s fulfillment network. As a Senior Enterprise Automation Engineer you will act as the technical bridge between Applied Science research and operational logistics, designing, building and deploying intelligent workflow automations using enterprise tools such as UiPath and n8n, and integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) into daily processes for transport, customs and packaging experts. Responsibilities - Design, develop and scale robust automations on enterprise orchestration platforms (UiPath Suite, n8n) to eliminate high‑volume manual data entry. - Integrate Cognitive AI by applying prompt engineering to embed LLMs into business processes handling unstructured data. - Define and enforce development guidelines to ensure bots are auditable, secure and deployable across Europe. - Design and manage API connections linking legacy systems (e.g., SAP) with AI orchestration tools. - Build Human‑in‑the‑Loop (HITL) workflows that safely manage edge‑cases and foster stakeholder trust. - Collaborate with central tech teams and operational subject‑matter experts to rapidly deliver solutions in agile sprints. Qualifications - Deep hands‑on experience developing and architecting workflow automations with UiPath Suite or n8n. - Proven expertise in prompt engineering and safe integration of LLMs into production. - Solid programming skills (Python, JavaScript) for custom logic within automation frameworks. - Experience with Intelligent Document Processing (OCR, AI) for logistics documents. - Knowledge of process mining (e.g., Celonis) or task mining to identify automation opportunities. - Ability to build self‑healing workflows and robust error‑handling frameworks. - Strong API design, management and troubleshooting capabilities. - Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills. - Passion for process optimisation in an agile, iterative environment.
