Flames flash from wing of Condor flight to Düsseldorf
A Condor flight between Corfu and Düsseldorf was forced to make an emergency landing on Saturday evening after passengers heard a loud bang and saw flames flash from the wings shortly after the plane took off.
The plane crossed the Adriatic Sea to make an emergency landing in Brindisi, Italy. On Sunday morning, a spokesperson from Condor confirmed that an engine malfunction had caused the flames, but stressed that there had been no engine fire.
Too few hotel rooms for stranded Condor passengers
When the flight made the emergency landing, some of the 273 passengers were granted hotel accommodation, but a shortage of rooms meant many were left to sleep in the airport.
According to a report from Tagesspiegel, passengers could either find their own accommodation and claim expenses from Condor or stay in the airport, where they were provided with blankets and vouchers for food.
A replacement flight was organised and passengers arrived at Düsseldorf airport on Sunday morning.
