Art lovers have the chance to see some of the most exciting collections in Berlin this August, as private contemporary art collections have banded together to host the first-ever Collection Night.
Participating art collections have created individual programmes for the debut event, which sees some collections presented to the public for the first time ever.
Private collections of contemporary art add to the growing diversity of Berlin’s unique landscape, next to state museums, galleries and exhibition spaces. In order to boost the city’s expanding art offering, 15 private collections will host the first Collection Night, opening their programmes and homes to art enthusiasts for free.
Some of the art collections shown will be open to the public for the first time. For example, as part of the Collection Night, the Wemhöner Collection is temporarily opening its new premises in Berlin-Kreuzberg. Then following a period of renovation, it will be hosting a regular public exhibition starting in early 2021.
Each collection will design its own programme for the evening, including exhibitions, screenings, talks and performances. All the different and unique aspects surrounding art collection, and the diversity of collections fields, will be discussed.
Organised by the Directors of the Boros Collection, The Feuerle Collection and the me Collectors Room Berlin, participants in Collection Night include:
The entire programme for the first Collection Night will be shared with the public from the beginning of August on the official website. For full details on the event and to register your interest, please visit Berlin Collectors.
