JapanFood Festival Berlin
If you are a lover of Japanese cuisine then you are in for a treat, as the city of Berlin is set to host its very own JapanFood Festival this autumn! Taking place from September 7 to 8, the festival will be presenting a range of culinary delights from the Land of the Rising Sun, from authentic dishes to exotic treats!
The best dishes from the Land of the Rising Sun
Get ready to taste countless Japanese specialities, from classic dishes such as sushi and sake to miso soup, tempura, yakitori and ramen and more! JapanFood Festival Berlin, a sister event to the larger JapanFestival Berlin which takes place every winter, was created in order to fulfil the city's increasing demand for Japanese delicacies and treats.
“The JapanFood Festival Berlin is a journey of discovery for the palate and the culinary complement to the JapanFestival Berlin, which always takes place in January,” says organiser Christian Wagner. What’s more, alongside the delicious authentic food, visitors can also view and purchase authentic tableware, porcelain and decor to serve their favourite Japanese meals at home!
Taste the best Japanese specialities
The menu at the JapanFood Festival Berlin includes cold specialities, as well as baked, fried and cooked dishes, all prepared by Master Chefs, just as you would find at an authentic “Matsuri” Japanese festival. Traditional Japanese drinks, like matcha, green tea, Ramune (Japanese lemonade) and umeshu (a Japanese liqueur made from apricots) will also be on offer, so you can pair your dish with the ideal drink. Those with more of a sweet tooth can enjoy artfully decorated Japanese crepes, mochi rice cakes and pocky.
In addition to sampling the best Japanese food, the festival also includes live cooking shows, cooking workshops, such as learning how to make sushi, and demonstrations by “Ninja cooks”!

But wait - that’s not all! In order to offer a full rounded taste of Japanese culture, there will be live martial arts presentations and taiko drums showcasings throughout the event as well. For those interested in the finer arts, fear not - the festival also has hands-on workshops on origami and the game Go.
