The Österreichische Bundesbahnen (ÖBB) has announced that it will cut its night train service between Berlin and Brussels, starting March 28.
ÖBB, Austria’s national rail provider, has announced that from March 28, it will no longer run night train services between Berlin and Brussels.
Until now, the rail company has run three weekly, long-distance trains between Berlin Ostbahnhof and the Belgian capital, with services leaving on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday nights. Return journeys from Brussels to Berlin ran on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Berliners who are still looking for a time-efficient and environmentally friendly route to Brussels need not despair. The Dutch rail company European Sleeper, which has been rapidly expanding its routes across Europe, still runs night train services between the two capitals.
Passengers can depart Berlin Hauptbahnhof at 10.56pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays and return on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, leaving from Bussels-Midi / Zuid at 7.22pm. The same route also stops in Antwerp, Amsterdam, Dresden and Prague.
