Spotify users in Germany will now have to pay more for all subscription types on the music streaming service. Here’s what customers can expect:
Spotify raises price of all subscriptions in Germany
At the beginning of August, Spotify announced that it would raise the monthly price of subscriptions for its music streaming service. However, it was unclear in which countries customers would be affected.
The Swedish company has now clarified that customers in Germany will have to pay more and that the new prices apply from August 14, 2025. Those with a “premium individual” subscription, the most popular kind of subscription, will see their monthly bill rise from 10,99 to 12,99 euros.
The cost of the “duo” subscription, shared by two people, will also increase from 14,99 to 17,99 euros per month. The cost of a “family” subscription, which can be used by six people living in one house, will rise from 17,99 to 21,99 euros per month.
Spotify features will stay the same despite price rise
In Germany, Spotify users only recently got access to a limited version of the platform’s audiobook feature. Despite the August 14 price rise, the platform will not give users access to any new features on the app.
In 2024, the company made a net income of 1.138 billion euros and paid out a record 8,9 billion euros to the artists whose music it streams. More recently, Spotify CEO Daniel Ek faced criticism in June 2025 after announcing a 5,1 million-euro investment in Helsing, a German AI military defence company.
