Electrician/Electronic Instructor for Engine Control & Monitoring Systems
located in Kiel
As a Control & Monitoring Instructor, the employee is responsible for providing technical training of control and monitoring systems for all Caterpillar Motoren Products, across all business segments (Marine, EPG, Oil and Gas) and the upcoming engine upgrade solutions. In addition, he/she will be responsible for content creation / updating as well as the continuous improvement of existing training aids.
Job duties:
- Provide theoretical and practical monitoring and control training in English or German to customer, dealer technicians and Caterpillar employees
- Implement / Conduct the theoretical and practical training at the Caterpillar Engine Training Center in Kiel, on site (international) or virtual via Microsoft Teams.
- Create new course contents, training material (Power Point Presentation and handouts, etc.) and practical exercises for all referring monitoring & control systems.
- Willing to invest in new training tools and methods
- Familiarization with new technical solutions and technologies.
- Good computer skills and experience in PLC programming and configuration of engine control modules.
- Troubleshooting, updating and modification of training engines as well as other training related systems (like simulations or standalone panels).
- Project planning: Detailed technical and commercial planning of training facilities in the training center, organizational and financial planning, independent execution, reporting and communication.
Your profile:
- Good skills in electrical and control engineering and the corresponding measurements.
- Knowledge of monitoring and control equipment for ship propulsion systems, generator sets on board of vessels and in power plants as well as in Oil and Gas application
- Knowledge of medium-speed diesel/gas or DF engines (Caterpillar engines/MaK or comparable engines) with their requirements in terms of control and monitoring
- Good written and spoken English skills
- Willing to worldwide travel (10%)
- High degree of independent work and self-organization is required.
- Good team player and empathetic to customer
- Experience as a field service technician would be helpful.
