Your Mission in the Vehicle Dynamics Cluster HiL

Modern Mercedes-Benz (MB) vehicles are equipped with numerous control units that shape the targeted MB driving behaviour and safety - including steering systems (e.g., EPS, rear-axle steering, steer-by-wire) and brake systems (e.g., ESP). In our Control Systems Analysis team, we test these interacting control units within a Vehicle Dynamics Cluster Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) environment to enable digital validation and release testing. Real Electronic Control Units (ECUs) are coupled with component‑based, high‑level, real‑time multibody simulation models of the vehicle (e.g., SIMPACK), allowing the validation of the system behavior under realistic dynamic conditions. This approach increases system maturity and safety while significantly reducing test time and physical prototype costs.

We are looking for a motivated engineer to perform release‑synchronized digital testing, enhance real‑time simulation models, and contribute to the design and maintenance of Vehicle Dynamics Cluster‑HiLs. As vehicle architectures evolve across new platforms, system complexity increases – a challenge we meet through tight collaboration within our team, in direct coordination with the steering and braking ECU departments, our colleagues in India, and external partners.

Qualifications

  • An above‑average degree (Master’s, MBA, or PhD) in Control Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field
  • Maximum of 3 years of professional experience (apart from studies) in vehicle dynamics simulation and control systems
  • Strong foundation in real‑time multibody simulation (preferably with SIMPACK or equivalent tools)
  • Hands‑on experience with HiL systems and tools (e.g., VI‑grade, CANape, ETAS, bus systems, Linux)
  • Familiarity with AI in Engineering (e.g., deep learning, generative AI, optimization)
  • Solid skills in MATLAB/Simulink, C and MS Office
  • At least 3 months of experience abroad (study, international internship, work and travel)
  • Excellent English (C2) is required, German communication skills are desirable
  • You are eager to shape the transformation at Mercedes‑Benz and take responsibility
  • Highly motivated team player with strong analytical, communicative, and self‑driven qualities
  • Passion for innovation, responsibility, and collaboration across disciplines

Application Process

We are looking forward to your application. We have a multi‑stage recruiting process: If you successfully pass our Online Assessment and a short video interview, we will invite you to our Inspire Day at the end of March 2026 in Stuttgart, Germany.

If you would like to get more information about our new Inspire program, have a look at our career website: Mercedes‑Benz Career Website. You will find further open graduate positions under the #inspire‑journey.
